A healthy twist on a BBQ favorite. No need to miss out on the taste of a good burger!
500 grams lean ground pork
1 small onion, grated
pinch of allspice
1 tsp of fennel seeds, toasted and crushed
1 tsp olive oil
2 cloves of garlic, diced
zest of 1/2 lemon
pinch of salt
pinch of pepper
4 lettuce leaves
for garnish: sliced tomatoes, sliced red onion
Toast the fennel seeds in a dry frying pan until fragrant then crush. Using your hands, mix the pork with grated onion, lemon zest, allspice, and salt and pepper. Shape mixture into 4 burgers.
Put olive oil in a hot griddle pan and fry burgers 6-7 minutes on each side.
Let the burgers rest for a few minutes and then wrap in the lettuce leaves, top with tomato and red onion and serve.
